It can be a great way to relieve stress, and it can also be a great way to socialize with friends. Haven't tried, and I'm wary about hosting a game.Gaming is a form of entertainment that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The UGLY: As it's remote-desktop software, giving users access to keyboards for gaming could potentially enable them to run the system shutdown code off a macro, or sending a link to the Run command. Even bringing it up on their Discord yields 0 replies. The BAD: 4 of 5 stars because there is no way to report a streamer for 'playing' hardcore pornography. My latest host fixed it by also streaming the game over Discord, so it's not a problem with their computer. The Parsec team has so many resolutions listed that it sounds like they don't know why. Some people do experience no sound from the host. So far, my connection has been pretty expected from connecting to strangers. If the host has poor internet, the client will receive heavy pixilation & smudging, and input delay. In the past, players of online games would troll others by telling their IP in chat, so it all sounds like scare-tactics to me. The MAYBE The Parsec team suggests a VPN could reduce the connection, causing jitters in multiplayer, and VPN sites say Parsec reveals your IP. While you set the buttons on your gamepad, in-game controls are set on the host-side, and can include gamepad (default), keyboard and/or mouse. Arcade is where randos pop in and out of whatever is being hosted for literal drop-in gaming. Arcade mode is a similar experience except you can restrict access to only the currently active window for gaming or watching a show. You can enable a friend to control your PC for digital editing, like 3D and Photoshop, or gaming, like map editing and playing The Sims together. The GOOD: Simple software to connect to other people. Playing games with randoms | Gamegrumps uses it My trigger to write this review was an e-mail from Parsec notifying me that my VM was deleted due to insufficient credits. Ended up switching back to my 2012 Alienware M17R4 since it still performances better. This managed me to get in the 60 ish FPS zone with decent settings (still not what the machine should be capable of if you check the specs). Finally settled with a Papercut machine and manually updated the GeForce driver to the newest version (even though Papercut/Parsec explicitly tells you not to, since it might be possible that the VM will be corrupted). The Amazon machines aren't even capable of running BF1 since they're running on an old Windows (server?) version. I tried all the different possible VM's which took me a couple of hours in total (= wasted credits). After setting up a Papercut machine and installing BF1, I wasn't able to manage 30+ FPS on the lowest settings possible. Service is okay, however performance of the machines is very poor even though specs suggest otherwise. I never would have left this review if they hadn't given me such a hassle to get my hard-earned money back. ***UPDATE: I finally got my refund, but of course only after I said I'm just going to post about it since they were stealing my money. Can't recommend that anyone uses this app at this point. At this point, we were ready to move on because there has been more than enough communication and more than enough troubleshooting, but they refused to give us back our money for a non-consistently working app. We got frustrated using an app that doesn't work, so then we requested a refund for the 8 months of the year left that we won't use it, but they refused to do so without doing a 5th or 6th tech call with them about the issues. The troubleshooting never worked, we still had issues. The app has constant connection problems! I addressed the connection my staff regularly has with the reps and senior folks.
